According to the Statutes of the NRCC, individuals who has promoted the purposes of the Chamber through their activities within the Russian-Norwegian Trade and Industrial Cooperation and who have deserved this, can after suggestion by the General Assembly of the NRCC, be appointed honorary members of the NRCC.
By primo January 2009, the following individuals are honorary members of the Norwegian-Russian Chamber of Commerce.
Leonid Reiman
Reiman has held several top positions in Russian telecom companies and ministerial positions in several Russian governments, hereunder, he was a Minister of Telecommunications in the period 2004-2008.
For his contribution to improving Norwegian-Russian relations, in May 2007 he was awarded honorary membership in the NRCC. The ceremony took part during a regular session of the Norwegian-Russian Joint Commission in Oslo, Norway. |

Oeyvind Nordsletten
For more than 40 years Nordsletten has worked with Russia. Nordsletten started his service for the Ministry of Foreign affairs in 1974 and at first served at Norwegian Embassy in Moscow from 1979 till 1982 as a diplomat of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1992 till 1996 he served as Norway’s Ambassador in Ukraine, and later from 1997 till 2000 he joined the office of the Prime Minister of Norway. Later Mr. Nordsletten was appointed Norway’s ambassador in Moscow and served in this position until recently. Recently he was appointed Norway’s ambassador to Ireland.

Elnar Seljevold
From 1955 till 1969 Seljevold worked as interpreter and assistant for Norwegian Border Commissioner, and took an active part in the development of Norwegian-Russian relations. In 1965-1966 he became the director of Nordhandel AS, a trading company which existed till 1973 when the company was formally closed down. This initiative was the first extensive step forward within trade in the North. Later Elnar Seljevold became NRK’s reporter in Moscow from 1977 till 1980, from 1988 till 1990 he was the chief of NRK Ostfold, which during that time became NRK’s central station in south-eastern Norway. He is the author of several books and is engaged in a training program for Russian journalists in Norway.

Kåre Karlstad
In the second half of the 1970ies, the Norwegian-Finnish company Pomor Nordic Trade established by Kaare Karlstad had started import of wooden materials, frozen capelin, berries and other products from the North-Western district of the Soviet Union to Norway. Further, Karlstad has established a
Production Factory Pomor Industries in Kirkenes based on
imported pre-cut materials to Kirkenes from the Soviet Union in 1982-1983.
He was also an iniatiator to establishing of a Grensetransport company transporting pre-cut materials to the factory.
He further developed his trade with their Soviet partner Lenfintorg across the border – an import which consisted of imported frozen capelin,
berries and other products the North Western district of the
Soviet Union could deliver. Karlstad was soon nick-named Pomor Karlstad as this indeed was a revival of the
Pomor Trade in past centuries.During the awarding ceremony, it was mentioned that Kaare Karlstad was the pioneer in a time with serious obstacles, foreign trade monopolies, Cold War and Iron Curtain.

Nils-Edvard Olsen
In 1980-1982 Nils-Edvard Olsen was deputy mayor and from 1982-1990 Mayor in the Municipality of South-Varanger. He was given a tough challenge in restructuring a one-sided industrial location which needed urgent transformation and alternative working places. Throughout the 1980ies NEO laboriously promoted the municipality with aim of attracting the attention of
regional and central authorities about the various needs of the
population in the bordering municipality. An investment company, South Varanger Investments was
soon established, with the aim of developing alternative businesses.
Nils-Edvard Olsen also used every opportunity at oil-conferences, both in Norway and in the Soviet Union, to underline the importance of the need for getting started with oil and gas activity in the Barents sea, - and naturally for a mayor of South Varanger , promoting his municipality as the gateway to the Barents Sea. Among other contributions, one should mention Mayor's support to upstart of Kimek, Barents Company and several other companies which have developed trade with Russia.

Tor B. Naess
All the positive changes that took place in the North in the 1980-s would not been possible if not for the support from the central authorities in Oslo. One of those who played a key role during these processes, both with the mayor and with Norwegian industry trying to revive the cross border business, was Tor B N?ss, who was then working in the Norwegian Ministry of Trade in Oslo. At this time, Mr Naess gave his solid and important contribution to his superiors while the cooperation concept was developed. Tor B. Naess has for a long time been a most active chairman of the Norwegian delegation to the Mixed Norwegian-Soviet Economic Commission. He was working closely together with Norwegian industry - always being constructive, supportive and finding solutions to challenges that arouse, as it was underlined during the awarding ceremony.
Tor B Naess is today working in the Ministry of Foreign Affaires of Norway with the ongoing EFTA – Russia negotiations and issues related to Russian membership to WTO.
