| Education in Russia consists of three major groups: secondary education, higher education and postgraduate education. | ||||||||

Compulsory education in Russia lasts 9 years and qualifies for a Certificate of Incomplete Seconday Education. After 9 years in the seconday school one can either continue education at the secondary school og enter a technical school, also called community college. Full secondary education in Russia takes either ten or eleven years to complete. Completed education enables pupils to apply for universities and colleges (the latter are called Institutes).
