Russia's main trading partner is the EU, accounting for more than 50 % of its overall trade. CIS-countries account for ca 15 %. Total trade with Russia in 2005 amounted to EUR166 bn (compared with EUR85bn in 2003 for instance). The EU had a trade deficit of EUR53 billion. |

EU's exports to Russia are diversified. They included machinery (36%), chemicals (14%), manufactured goods classified chiefly by material (11%), transport equipment (10%), food and live animals (7%). Russia exports to the EU mainly energy/mineral fuels (65%). Exports include also manufactured goods classified chiefly by material (9%), primary products (6%), crude materials inedible except fuels (4%), chemicals (3%). By the results of 1 Q 2007, Germany remains Russia's main trading partner in the EU (9,7%), followed by the Netherlands (8,2%) and Italy (6,9%). Trade with China takes 7,1% of Russia's overall trade. Among the Nordic Countries, Finland is ahead its neighbours as for the trade with Russia (3%), followed by Sweden.
