Russian fishing fleet consists of about 2500 vessels, where more than 50% are at least 20 years old. Research fleet contains about 80 vessels. Compared to other sectors, sea shipping shows better results. National companies own about 1500 vessels with total deadweight of 15 million tons, that places Russia on 23rd position in the world.


 

 

 

 

   

River transportation accounts for 25% of all water transportation in Russia. Per 2007, there are 20 river shipping companies in the country, but their fleet is even more obsolete than other vessels in the industry, with an average age of 28 years.

Sevmash - one of the largest ship-building enterprises in Russia, the only shipyard engaged in building atomic submarines, with more than 100 subdivisions and employing more than 25 000 people. Sevmash has good cooperation with several Norwegian companies (eng)

Russian Shipbuilding Agency “Rossudostroyenie” – the federal body implementing control, permissive, regulating and other responsibilities in the field of the shipbuilding, incl. researches, development, manufacture, updating and utilisation of products of military and civil shipbuilding, comprises 180 enterprises (eng).

Vladivostok Merchant Trade Port - port in Vlavivostok playing important role in overseas and short-distance traffic, serving companies from more than 20 countries (eng)
Kaliningrad Sea Fish Port handles fresh­ frozen cargoes: fish and fish products, meat and poultry meat. The Port possesses refrigerating chambers of 20 thousand ton capacity of simultaneous storage, developed railway network, own marshal yard, electric­ and diesel loaders park, experienced dockers crews. The Port has gained a vast experience of handling package and bulk mineral cargoes, dry and liquid fertilizers, timber, petrochemical products, etc. (eng/rus)
Seaport of St. Petersburg – the biggest transport point of the North-Western of Russia; the joint stock company. The Great Port is one of the Baltic region's leading stevedoring companies and, as a direct link between the Baltic Sea and Russia's vast market of natural resources, is vital to the nation's economy. Given its convenient geographic location and good railway and road access, the port handles approximately 20 million tons of all types of cargo every year, accounting for a quarter of Russia's total international trade volume (rus/ English version is under construction)
Vyborg Seaport is Joint Stock Company "Sea Commercial Port of Vyborg". The company has 13 berths with total length 1480,0 meters disposed along the coast line of Vyborg Gulf. is equipped with up-to-date load handling devices which make possible to overload any kinds of cargo in various packing. Containers, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, pipes and equipment, bags and packages, wood, grain, coal and many other kinds of cargo are handled in the port of Vyborg (eng/rus)
Arkhangelsk Seaport - trade port involved in general cargo handling, especially cellulose, cardboard, containers, forest products, metals, fertilizers and bulk cargoes. Turnover - about 4,5 million tons cargo annually. The Port has three cargo areas, container terminal, own service company Portflot (rus)
Murmansk Seaport is the largest ice-free port in the northern part of Russia, with a handling capacity up to 7.5 million tons. This is mainly dry cargo such as mining products and apatite concentrate. The port has 20 piers with a maximum depth of 10.5 metres. The port has been restructured into two units. A joint stock company handles the commercial activities and the government unit takes care of the premises (eng/rus).
