On 11 October 2018, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway to the Russian Federation Rune Resaland presented his credentials to President Vladimir Putin. According to tradition, after this ceremony, an ambassador is officially recognized as a representative of his country in the other state. Thus, Rune Resaland officially assumed the post of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Russian Federation.

In this capacity H.E. Ambassador Resaland will host the official reception of the Norwegian-Russian Forum VI, taking place in Moscow on 18 October 2018.

Ambassador Resaland has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1986. He was Secretary of the International Committee and Head of the International Department in the Norwegian Parliament (Stortinget) 1999-2003. Rune Resaland served as Minister-Counsellor at the Washington Embassy, D.C. 2003-2007, and later held positions as Senior Adviser, Head of Department for Security Policy and the High North, Deputy Director General 2008-2014 and Director General 2014-2018 in the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
